Double Wedding Ring (..Thank you, mom!)

I have waited for so long for my turn to have this Double Wedding Ring (DWR). Almost the last one who received it because of some reasons.. but it does't matter, I'm very pleased to have it now.

My mom made 4 quilts for us (me, my sister and my two sister in law). I was in charge to design the colors and to chose the fabrics for her DWR projects. We made blue DWR for my younger sister, green for older sister in law and red for the youngest... I forgot to take the pictures of their beautiful quilts.

My mom is very talented, she sewed very fast, almost without any mistakes. She finished this purple DWR 9 years ago, it was her second DWR project... That's why she became so expert to make DWR :))

I made the embroidery label for her that time... hmmm.. I think I should make it again for my DWR.

I made this DWR for my quilting class project. I only made 9 rings, because we want to do it in short time and in our class we made it with hand sewing :)

One of my friend who joined the DWR class brought some Bali Batik from Bali, I asked her to make it like this and she love it. I told her that my mom made 4 DWRs for us, and I challenged her to do the same for her 4 children who are married... She just laughed! ( but I know she can do it )

* * *
May your marriage bring you all the exquisite excitement married should bring, and may life grant you also patience, tolerance, and understanding.
May you have happiness, and may you find it making one another happy.
May you have love, and may you find it loving one another.

Crazy Little Thing Called LOVE...

Today, I am 45.. And I am very grateful for my life, surrounded by loved ones who always supported me for what I love to do most. One of them is enjoying my quilting world.. making quilt as a hobby and taking a big step to teach quilting too.. what a bless!

I made a photo frame covered with a Japanese fabric and I gave it to my sister, I wanted to share my happiness with my sister because it was she who encouraged me to accept the offer to teach quilting.

This beautiful name card designed by my husband. I regard it as a birthday gift.. actually an early gift, because we printed it 3 days ago. I sewed a tiny piece of fabric and a button on my name card.. (I called it "Crazy Little Thing Called Love").. I liked to make something that simple become special.. Hope people will feel it when receive these cards :)

Remember my Pinky Birds applique project?
This block is one of them, "Partridge and Pears". We chose it because it's my favorite one.

I sketched my name card gonna be so poorly.. But look, it turned out so beautifully in my husband's magic touch!

I love "My Buttons in Jars"!

A surprise gift from my kids at 12:01 AM.. I love you K and K!

Green Morning

I didn't do a lot of patchwork things lately, but I do happy to see these two blocks finished and make my morning so green and fresh :))

My green spider plant needs care, must got a new pot and additional soil and fertilizer.
My green tree, my green grass.. my green plants, you are so glorious green.
An abundance of beautiful green, not colored, but just natural and kind.
Green, you bring in the fresh air that I breathe.. Thank you :)

Mother's Day

My brother sent me an old song via YouTube. He said that he try to go back in time, remembering what everything was in the yesteryears. One of them is a song, sung by Pat Boone. He said, it once filled up the air of our home in Bedeng ( a place where we grew up), a beautiful blue wooden house, warmed with loves and cares.

I remember that we had phonograph box at the corner of our living room in our blue wooden house, we had some phonograph records, Mom loved to listen to those songs and so did we.

Time goes by so fast, we grow up with tons of loves. My brother and I are very grateful that our Mom still filling our lives with her love and care until now. We wish for her health and happiness.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY, MOM!

First Of May

First Of May - Bee Gees

When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,

we used to love while others used to play.
Don't ask me why, but time has passed us by,
some one else moved in from far away.

Now we are tall, and Christmas trees are small,
and you don't ask the time of day.
But you and I, our love will never die,
but guess we'll cry come first of May.

The apple tree that grew for you and me,
I watched the apples falling one by one.
And I recall the moment of them all,
the day I kissed your cheek and you were gone.

When I was small, and Christmas trees were tall,
do do do do do do do do do...
Don't ask me why, but time has passed us by,
some one else moved in from far away.

I've got the idea for these two appliques while listening "First of May" by Bee Gees..  Love that song.. I always remember it every time "May" comes.. People grow just like an apple tree!

Flower Pincushion

With a few potted plants on a wooden table, I called this place as my little garden. It's my favorite corner.

And I love a green plant as a background when I took some of my photographs.

I made this flower pincushion using my old fabric collection. I had the pattern from my sister.
This brightly colored flower pincushion makes the perfect joy to my green plants in my little garden :))

Happy Sunday!

Sakura

I love "Sakura". I took this picture in 2009 at Shinjuku Gyoen,Tokyo. The sweet memories of walking under the cherry blossom trees were still dancing in my mind.

One morning when I was drinking coffee in my "Sakura" cup, my friend who lives in Japan told me because of a bad weather "Sakura" has fallen by the end of March this year, they were blooming in a very short time. So sad.

To cheered up my feeling I draw "Sakura" and I wanted to make an applique.

Sakura is the name for cherry blossom..
Soft wind blowing each petal..
Oh, I miss "Sakura..

I hope they will bloom more longer next year.
